- Studies of the carbonate system’smethodological foundations: choice of acid-base equilibrium constants; developing of new methods for measuring the parameters of carbonate equilibrium
- Participation in the development of a fundamentally new method for measuring pH in sea water using a cell of a non-liquid compound, which ensures the accuracy of measurements within ± 0.003 pH.
- Representing Russia in an international intercalibration experiment for standardizing methods for determining alkalinity of sea water. First-time validation of correctness of the Bruevich’s method for determining the total alkalinity in sea and pore water
- Extensive studies of biogeochemical processes associated with the carbon cycle in various ecosystems of the ocean: estuaries (the Lena-Sea of the Laptevs, the Amur – Sea of Okhotsk, rivers of the Primorsky Territory), shallow basins, marginal seas (Sea of Japan, Sea of Okhotsk, Bering Sea), the open ocean, pore water of marine sediments.
