Comprehensive experimental and theoretical studies of ocean acoustic fields are performed to detect and study the natural and artificial multi-scaled heterogeneities of the marine environment. Particular attention is paid to methods of remote acoustic research for various characteristics of water column (area supervisor: full member of RAS, Dr.Sc. V.A. Akulichev).
Physical processes in the marine environment and adjacent geospheres are studied using modern laser-interference methods (area supervisor: full member of RAS, Dr.Sc. G.I. Dolgikh).
One of the priority research areas is development of technical means for acoustic tomography of water dynamics and structure on the shelf and in the deep sea (area supervisor: Dr.Sc. Yu.N. Morgunov).
